Assemble at Changi International Airport for your flight to Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. On arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, meet by our friendly representatives and transfer to hotel for overnight.
Today is left free for your own leisure and for trekking permits preparation.
After an early breakfast we make our way to the airport for flight departure to Lukla. Due to the tricky weather conditions the departure may often be delayed or cancelled. Thus if weather permits, we are away by eight and arrive at Lukla (9200 feet) air strip early. Once all luggages have been assembled, it may take some time to organise porters to carry the gears. Lunch will be in Likla or Phakding. Leaving Lukla, the trail meanders down to the DudhKhosi River and just before Phakding, there is a large bridge from which you can gaze down upon the surging raging torrent which eventually finds its way down to the Ganges. Today’s trek is approximately 3-5 hours.
From Phakding, we’ll proceed to Namche. This is a full day trip beginning by following the DudhKosi River then after lunch, start ascending the ridge up to Namche. The first day is relatively easy though the climb up to Namche is quite steep. Since Namche is at an attitude of 11,283 feet, one should not have any problems with altitude sickness. Yet nevertheless, one should not over exert oneself to break any speed record. For above 11,000 feet, slow and steady will definitely win the race. Today’s trek is approximately 8 hours. Namche is so named for its weekly Saturday bazaar in which the locals come from the surrounding districts to trade the various products of their farms for items they cannot produce themselves. In fact, Namche is the most important town in the region being not only a focus for trading but also for administration.
Today will be spent at Namche to acclimatize. You can spend the day shopping as there are numerous shops and temples which you can see.
Today, we will proceed to Tengboche. The trail is wide and easy yet as with all places in the Himalayas you will never escape those onward ever-upward climbs as you find just before Tengboche. The altitude is not great but being at 12,686 feet, you should begin to feel exhausted far more rapidly than if you were at sea level. From this altitude up, you must take it easy and you may have a mild headache but it is nothing to worry about. Tengboche is a very picturesque monastery or Gomba as the sherpas and Tibetans call them and from here, you’ll have an excellent view of AmaDablam, Kangtenga, Thamserku, Lhose, Nuptse, Kongde and Everest’s majestic peaks. Today’s trek is approximately 6 hours.
After breakfast, proceed back to Kathmandu by flight.
Free day at your own leisure.
