INTRODUCING BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA
Local Name: Bosna i Hercegovina
Other Name(s): Босна и Херцеговина, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bosnia
Bosnia was ruled by numerous forces over the centuries, finally declaring its independence from the former Yugoslavia in February of 1992. Shortly thereafter, ethnic fighting in the western Balkans resulted in the destruction of many of its historic cities and landmarks, and the tragic death of thousands of its citizens.

Bosnia and Herzegovina (is today) the union of two factions; the Muslim-Croat federation and the Bosnian Serb republic.

Located in the central part of the Balkan Peninsula, its north, west and south-west boundary lines divide Bosnia and Herzegovina from the Republic of Croatia, and east and south boundary lines from Serbia and Montenegro. The coastal line of Bosnia and Herzegovina lies upon the Adriatic Sea, around the town of Neum, and is about 21 kilometres long.

Lovely countryside, a thriving arts scene, sports opportunity, and fresh open space. A beautiful gem, still unknown for many. Agriculture, mining and timber are important economic contributors, and the once vibrant tourism industry is slowly recovering.
